Our Dynamic DRAMA PROGRAM has three major areas of focus:

1) the production of original theatrical works by local playwrights that address  issues of significance in our contemporary world
2) the production of plays set in Africa and the African Diaspora in order to increase exposure to this rich repertoire
3) performances of scenes or short plays that tour to local schools in an effort to develop an appreciation for and understanding of dramatic arts among local youth

While our drama program primarily focuses on productions that engage local professional talent, our talented and accomplished performers offer a variety of workshops to community members of all ages. Whether you want to learn about the history of various acting techniques, or satisfy your curiosity about the ins and outs of technical theater, the talented actors that work with our company are committed to dramatic education and providing our community members with the tools and knowledge to sustain the field of dramatic arts.

Our DRAMA PROGRAM includes

the following performance companies:

The Small Wonders Playhouse- Provides children 12 and under the opportunity to experience live theater. Adult performers present dramatic adaptations of African and African American folk tales as well as classics from children's literature. The productions are crafted to be family friendly, and are designed to be an introduction to dramatic arts. Shows are performed by high school students and college theater majors.

The African American Conservatory-  Our adult company, performs a range of theatrical works about the African and African American experience, including dramas, comedies, and musical theater pieces. The Conservatory aims to sustain public interest in the classics of African American drama, while also encouraging contemporary playwrights to produce new works.
